(16.10) Can a parent/guardian/other education rights holder audio record a meeting that the school district convenes to determine a child’s eligibility or a child’s services and accommodations under Section 504?

Yes. In California, a parent/guardian/other education rights holder has the right to audio record a Section 504 meeting with a 24-hour advance notice to the team members. The school may also audio record the meeting with a 24-hour advance notice unless the parent/guardian/other education rights holder objects or refuses to attend the meeting because of that decision. (Cal. Ed. Code Section 270.)
