If you believe your child’s IEP team made a mistake and incorrectly denied special education eligibility due to their status as an English Learner, you can request a second opinion through an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE).[1] It is best practice to find a bilingual IEE provider who can assess your child in both their primary language and English. See Chapter 2, Information on Evaluations/Assessments.
