Vocational services should be viewed as a long-range process and begin as early as possible. Career awareness and the development of work attitudes should begin in the elementary years. Career exploration of specific vocational areas and structured training experiences often occur in middle school and continues throughout high school. Job skill training and career placement should be addressed at least two years prior to leaving school.
