hThe guidance states that when there is a request for assessment (also called evaluation) during a disciplinary action, regardless of whether the request is made by parents/guardians/other education rights holders or the school district, “the evaluation must be conducted in an expedited manner”. During the process of completing this assessment, the child remains in the educational setting determined by the school district, which can be suspension or expulsion without services.^[1]
