If both you and the district want to mediate the dispute, CDE must offer a mediation process to do so. [5 C.C.R. Secs. 4660(a)(1)-(2).] There will be no investigation of your complaint by CDE if you and the district mediate the dispute and resolve all issues. [5 C.C.R. Sec. 4660(a)(3).]
If an
investigation is necessary, the CDE will appoint
a compliance investigator to act on
your complaint. The
CDE will send a written notice of the
investigator’s name and the
investigation dates. The
notice will
also explain the investigation process. The investigator will contact you and the local district to obtain both views of the problem and will review records if necessary. [5 C.C.R. Secs. 4662 & 4663.]
